IPIP is a state-based, nationally led quality improvement initiative. It brings together technology, data, and proven quality improvement methods to help physicians give their patients the best possible care.

The IPIP Program Incorporates:

  • National measures for diabetes and asthma
  • Use of registries to manage patient populations
  • Monthly data reporting and aggregate summary
  • Quality Improvement Coaches working with practices
  • Learning Collaboratives
  • Decision support tools, such as a visit planner
  • A flow diagram and protocols to standardize care
  • Frequent monitoring of protocol use to track reliability
  • Self-management support to engage patients in care

Physicians who participate in IPIP receive:

  • Quality Improvement Coach (QIC)
  • QI support from a national expert team
  • Monthly aggregate report on IPIP measures
  • Practice explorer to compare performance to peers
  • Opportunity to receive Part IV credit for MOC & CME credit
  • Link to NCQA recognition programs and P4P initiatives
  • Tools to improve efficiency and quality
